Air India Sale Chennai-Muscat/Dubai 12k return
Air India is running a sale. On some sectors, cheap tickets are available.
For example, Chennai-Muscat for 12300. This is great price for immediate travel.
This Chennai Muscat leg is operated on an A321 with extra leg room seats in exit row. Hoping to get those coveted seats. [Details]
But a bit of luck is needed to spot cheapest fair.
Found Chennai-Dubai also for similar fare
Air India flight include meals and better than LCCs. Generous 30 kg baggage is included and option to bid for business class.
Didn't get any super cheap ticket for Chennai-Delhi, BLR-Birmingham, Chennai-Colombo, Chennai-Jaffna sectors that I tried, for few date combinations. I would have loved to fly to Jaffna if return ticket is available within 6-7k INR.

Air India is up for sale, running on loss with govt support. Not sure if it is safe to book 6-9 months from now as we don't know how the carrier will be at that time. But for near future I don't see any conerns.
