International destinations for under 50k, April-May 2022

If you have half a lakh rupees to spare on an international trip return ticket, here are some options you can consider for this summer. Of course this is only about flight ticket expense. You would need extra for visa, RTPCR, stay, food etc.

India’s neighbors Nepal, Srilanka and Maldives are the cheapest places we can fly to, for under 20000 INR for a return ticket. I didn’t include Nepal because it can be accessed via road as well.

Thailand has opened an air bubble with India and a return ticket for 20-25k is possible. It is still high compared to pre-covid air asia sale pricing of 5000-6000 INR return tickets. Middle east could have been had at 15k pre-covid but now at least 30k.

Paris seems to be the only European destination accessible for under 50k. London, Frankfurt and many other European cities cost 70k to fly. Even Africa is costing so much. Vietnam, Bali, Manila etc do not look attractive at current price points, so better to hold and wait.

Be advised above are approx price from BLR to main cities in these countries. Price may vary by date, airline and booking website. Better to book directly on the airline website for higher control on your ticket in case of any issue like cancellation, covid positive etc.

Russia also might be reachable under 50k from Delhi but given the war the situation there it may be better to hold Russia travel till situation normalizes.
